Right.   That means S+N is twice N.

If you have an integrated noise in the 500 Hz filter,   N,

and you inject a signal such that

S+N = 2*N

S = N

therefore,  the integrated noise power in the S meter in a 500 Hz filter 
in the PowerSDR software IS the MDS.
