It is a serial interface...but I'm not having a lot of luck finding any good
documentation on the details.  I suppose a peek at the midibox core code
(it's all pic PIC18F452 based and the code is open sourced and fairly well
documented) could give some details...but I'd rather find the actual specs.

I did just find an interesting new midibox module that has been created
since the last time I checked their site.  It's an i2c/midi bridge module:

Detail on the i2c bitstream used is available on that page.  Looks like the
last update on that module was this month so it's probably still being
actively developed too.  With Atlas already having an i2c bus (IIRC) this
could make it a no brainer to bring a midi signal in.  Then it should just
be a software matter to do something with signals.

I'll try and do some more research over the next few days if others think
this idea is worth persuing.
