Phil,

Your selection of Littlefuse PGB Series ESD suppressor is good against
short transients. If you want a RoHS compliant component, you may take
PGB102ST23WR. Whichever, but a better place would be next to the
connector.
On the other hand, this type of component is good only for short ESD
transients, they clamp only to 150V (plus or minus). They cannot
protect against longer lasting overvoltage surges of DC power.

My recommendation is Bourns CDSOT23-SR724. It protects 4 lines, it is
USB 2.0 compatible (Cj 3 pF), RoHS compliant and can handle both ESD
transients and overvoltage surges. See :

component is between the common mode coil and the USB chip.
