A few comments from looking at the data sheet

    * Nice part...hadn't seen it before
    * LVDS differential inputs enable separating A/D and digital
      circuits for less noise
    * Supports 4-6 channels...probably more than a Ham receiver needs so
      it costs more than necessary
    * Maybe the AD6620 makes more sense...but it only goes to 65 MHz input
    * The extra channels in the 6636 can support beamforming, because
      the NCO includes phase control
    * Flexible decimation ratios to support narrowband output
    * Narrowband output enables bypassing the sound card for final
      tuning and demodulation
    * Still need the DSP in the PC to make a radio
    * Significantly cheaper than an FPGA for the same capability
    * But still requires and FPGA for glue logic and PC interface
