[hpsdr] How to get your message through

A few little reminders from your discussion list administrator on how to
best get your message to the list in the best way:

1. Send your message to the list using a return email address identical
to the one (or more) you are subscribed with. Our "mailman" software
running this list is not smart enough to equate your subscribed address
with your other possible addresses and will rather abruptly reject your
message.

2. If you receive list messages in DIGEST mode, make sure you use a
subject in your email reply which describes your message! Digest
replies not following this may be rejected.

3. When quoting a message in a reply, trim EVERYTHING except for what
you still need from the other guy's message to maintain context.

4. Use plain text ASCII mode in your email program to send messages to
the list. Using other modes are unnecessary and may bloat your message
to trip the size threshold -- which means your message will be held for
human approval or rejection.

5. Use an appropriate subject in your message. When threads get off the
original topic, revise the subject. This helps others find messages of
interest to them, but "live" and in the archives.

6. If at all possible, give a link (URL) in your message which points at
articles, drawings, files and other material instead of including it as
an attachment. Almost half the subscribers will not see it anyway if
you send it as an attachment, and it will not be archived.

Delay or moderation may take place upon loss of common sense and courtesy.

Thanks to all who do post messages responsibly,
