I've seen the dynamic magnetic field from a small cooling fan put some
pretty bad unintended phase modulation on a VCO. 

I would imagine it would take a pretty strong static magnetic field to
cause any sort of saturation of the preselector coil cores, though a
weaker static field could bias the cores towards saturation thereby
reducing the usable dynamic range of the preselector.
