This TeamSpeak session was recorded on a
dial-up connection as part of an experiment.

In the past, I have tried various things
to reduce my 5% to 10% packet loss on TeamSpeak,
including using a separate PC and operating
system (Windows XP versus Ubuntu Linux).

This time, I kept the Ubuntu PC on my
Comcast Broadband Internet connection.
It was showing up to 19% packet loss from
the TeamSpeak server. I took the same
Windows XP Home PC that was experiencing
10% packet loss in the past, even when
it was the sole device on my LAN, and
disconnected it from the LAN. I had it
dial-up with the internal modem to my
alternate IP, AdvanceNet. The dial-up
connection was at 45.2 Kbps. Every
time I checked for TeamSpeak packet loss
on the dial-up connection, it was 0%.

This packet loss is also present on my
IRLP VOIP connection. You can hear the
periodic garble on the local audio.

This TeamSpeak VOIP garble showed up
about a year ago; roughly the same
time that I started seeing a lot of
commercials on my Comcast cable TV
about their "Digital Voice" VOIP
service.

Remember "Network Neutrality"?
