[hpsdr] Phoenix Rises - needs circuit checking in Kicad

Hi Ahti/All

I agree! Richard has moved the Phoenix project to just about the point of
Alpha, after the many months of testing the various suggestions for hardware
and circuits.

NOW:

Is there anyone out in "HPSDR land" who can load up Kicad, or is familiar
with Kicad to check the schematics (with probable changes you suggest)
against the layout as Richard has requested. The HPSDR list has always done
this on other projects before going to Alpha boards! The more 'checkers' we
have the less likely it is that there will be 'blue wires' and that we can
go from the alpha test to production, saving a LOT of time.

Thanks
Eric - AA4SW

Congratulations Richard!

Your PHOENIX Schematics look great. I think your selection of
components (74AUC2G53 and OPA1632) for the mixer is a very balanced
compromise between the dynamic range and the component count. Thanks
also to Marco IK1ODO who improved the basic draft by adding the
"diplexer" components at the inputs of the fully differential opamp.

May I suggest some changes? When used together with Janus, we don't
necessarily need ±10 V supply for the opamps. Possibly ±5V (or even +5
V) would be enough for the 2.4 Vpp inputs of the AK5394A. Due to the
low noise figure of the ADC, maybe, also the gain of the opamps could
be slightly reduced for better strong signal capability.

It is a very tempting suggestion to be an alpha tester, but because of
some commercial projects, I must accept my situation as a lurker on
the side and wait for the ready made board.

73 and many thanks,
Ahti OH2RZ
