Hello Johnathan,

Don't worry I had already ruled out DSTAR if people want to experiment 
with that they can use the DVDongle.

I have recently been experimenting with the BBCs open source video codec
called Dirac http://dirac.sourceforge.net/ 
and the Speex http://speex.org/ open source voice codec.
