[hpsdr] Linear Power Unit - what a good idea!

G'day

Scotty's idea of the LPU kit sounds an absolutely terrific idea!

Most of us have linear 12V 20A-plus supplies in the shack to power existing
HF/VHF transceivers - this is how I was intending to power the 'high power'
side of my HPSDR transceiver, plus a separate regulated power supply for the
-12V and 3.3V side of things. To do away with the need for the latter power
supply is great!

For those of us old-timers with a dislike for (noise-generating and
break-down prone) switch-mode supplies, a linear LPU unit which gets its
power in this manner and plugs into Atlas is a more attractive solution than
Demeter anyway and would be permanent.

By the way, the modifications suggested by Lyle to Scotty's original LPU
schematic sound great too.

As the saying goes, you're "cooking with gas" on this one!
