Hi Alex,

May be OM Gerd Loch g.loch at nt-electronics.de, who manufactures Atlas boards, 
can answer your question.
I had bad experience with such practices and Tantal-capacitor C1 on the 
Atlas started to burn and destroyed
the whole board. Instead of looking for a wire tap on Atlas, it is safest to 
branch to 12 V dc before the main connector of Atlas.
