[hpsdr] Atlas orientation in Pandora...

Jeremy,

I accept every word you've written below. However, it is also a fact
that presently there is no HERCULES but Gerd's. Or, for that matter, any
better solution for a 100W HPSDR transceiver. Where 'better' means

   1. 100W or more
   2. Compatible with PENELOPE (controls and 0.5W input)
   3. Set of output filters (ALEX is still not available and the last I
heard, the toroids delivered were unacceptable which puts it back to square
   one)

Also, HERCULES was envisioned in openHPSDR project. So maybe it would have
been a good idea to cooperate with Gerd on the early design stages or update
the PANDORA design a bit to make it compatible.

Practically, I solved the problems I've described. But it required some
special tools and equipment not readily available to most of the hams and
especially in countries like mine. I am new to openHPSDR and very excited
about it and it looks to me that it should be available as a complete
product to hams that are interested only in using it.

And coming back to the amplifier issue. I am very excited about the THOR
idea. But there has been no progress for several years. I expect that it's
fate is going to be similar to HERCULES. Someone will tire of waiting for
officially supported progress, will do the work and offer it to the
openHPSDR community. With similar bugs and problems resulting from
uncoordinated effort as in the presently discussed case.
