George

I use any of the Heil headsets, as well as Heil Goldline GM-4. I use this
as my
main HF rig and have been using Penelope since it was first released. There
 are many
ways to implement PTT: depending on type of microphone, you can use the tip
or ring of the mic plug on Penelope, (or Janus if you have one), Pin #1 of
the DB-25
on Penelope, or Pin #8 (Pin #5 common) on the DB-9 on Ozy or Magister. I
chose
to use the DB-9 Pin #8 as it works as PTT in CW too. I also have the PTT
buttons
on my microphones activate the PTT on the mic plug on Peny. I use a hand
switch and
foot switch in parallel to the DB-9.

There are many variables on mic settings depending on your voice, I choose
to reduce
the mic boost in initozy11.bat by 20 db (just edit this file, the notes are
 there), I do NOT
use Leveler in PowerSDR>DSP>AGC/ALC, and I monitor Mic on the TX Meter and
keep it
below 0 db. Your mileage may vary!

Dear All,

I'm getting ready to install Penelope in my Atlas bus, as I've just built
up
an HF Projects digitally-controllable LPF ($69 + postage for the kit), and
will be using Pennywhistle.

So with that comes the question: what microphones are people using for SSB
with their Penelope? What are you using for a PTT switch?

I'd like to learn what your experiences are, before I get that far.
