I have been following the list but this is my first posting.

I have been collecting the bits and pieces for last 3 years and just
completed my LPU and Atlas on the weekend, I updated all boards with the
latest firmware (i had to modify batch files for latest sp1 quartus
version), installed Power-sdr and calibrated the Mercury receiver. The
Quick Start document coupled with N8UR's powerpoint.and video on the subject
were very helpful.

Everything is working great so far. I haven't tested Penelope in TX mode
but I will try it out on the dummy load shortly. It occurred to me I will
need an antenna switch in order to use my new rig, which, I guess this is
one of the main functions of the new alex module.

I am scanning the archives but I have some persistent questions. How are
HPSDR users doing TR switching while waiting for alex. I read up on
the DJ8AY TR switch but was wondering whether other home-brew techniques
were being used while waiting for alex, or, are people just
using separate antennas for TX and TX.

I notice people are using duplex using the KK (which I have not had chance
to install yet). How are you connecting the antenna and protect the
receive input?

I am getting ready to build pennywhistle here and I assume I need to wait
for alex before using the pennywhistle. I am wondering however if the
pennywhistle or higher power amp can used while in this duplex mode? There
does not seem to be much info on how Alex will work with break-in keying so
I am also wondering whether this was tested and how it will work.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

My thanks to all the hardware and software designers for putting together a
terrific sdr system. Hope to see you in Dayton this year.
