[hpsdr] Lack of Alex options a showstopper for me

Hi all,

Like many I have been following the Alex story with interest. It is the
final piece that will allow me to transceive with HPSDR (without having
to build my own T/R antenna switch). Unfortunately, I am far more
conscious of my wallet now than I was when I started collecting the
HPSDR boards, and I need to look for ways to achieve the best value for
my purposes. Having Alex only available as assembled boards means that I
would have to pay multiples of what I really need to.

For a start, the only reason I /need/ the Alex RX is for the antenna
relay - I'm in a relatively quiet RF location. As for Alex TX, obviously
it would be better to have all the bands covered, but I've actually only
been using 80 and 40 lately and would prefer to add the extra bands as I
need them. Besides, I already have all the toroids and wire that I need
and have had plenty of toroid winding practice with the SoftRocks. I'm
not inclined to pay for what I already have or can already do.

I'm sure that Alex TX and RX represent good value for what they are, but
they are far more than I need. Unless bare Alex PCBs are available
pretty soon then I am most likely going to sell all my HPSDR gear.

73,
Murray - VK6HL
