I came within a hairs breadth of total destruction of my HPSDR system on the
weekend. We had very high winds here in CT and the house feeders got tangled
with the neighbours and we ended up with a 440v supply insead of 220V. The
psu was very unhappy with this situation and blew the primary 200vw caps in
the switch mod supply in short order. Fortunaley the sudden death of the
primary saved the rest of the sytem.

The central heating system and the Kitchen Micro both lost their input
transformers. The central heating enginer has just left and is now 200
euros better off than when he came!!!.

Is anybody aware of any EU style socket outlet strips with a a resetable
overvoltage trip? I see plenty of surge protected types for spikes but not
for longer term overvoltage.

By the way, Tungsten bulbs are quite happy at 440v but the new saver tubes
go off with a big bang!! My older TV with a CRT was also happy at the high
voltage it must have a MOV\ poly fuse combo as it just shut down on the
worst peaks and then reset.

An interesting weekend, just need to rebuild the antenna sytem now and
repair the roof where the mast broke and punched a hole in the tiles.
