PowerSDR v1.19.3.1.diversity11 (K5SO 31OCT2010) is available for
download at
http://www.k5so.com/HPSDR_downloads.html
This version implements the "radar screen" style diversity control
used in the Flex 5000 in its diversity mode. In this present HPSDR
release, diversity mode is no longer "constant gain" but instead the
operator may independently adjust the relative gain and phase of the
dual IQ data streams from the Mercury boards by dragging the yellow
dot across the radar screen display. The slider phasing control has
been removed; replaced by the large radar screen control.
The phasing performance is enhanced relative to earlier HPSDR
releases. The operator has options to select "Mercury 1 only" or
"Mercury 2 only" or "Diversity".
To see how this relatively large diversity control is used and what it
looks like generally see the W9OY demo of a similar control that is
used for the Flex5000 at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SD0V2D5S1dU&feature=player_embedded#
In the present HPSDR version it is not necessary to select "Enable" or
"Sync" as these buttons are presently unnecessary and have even been
temporarily removed from the control for the time being. "Sync" will
be useful in later versions, after frequency diversity is implemented
for the HPSDR.
This latest version is suitable for "spatial diversity" in which two
spatially separated antennas are connected to the Mercury boards or
"polarization diversity" in which the two Mercury inputs are connected
to antennas of different polarization angles. Both Mercury boards
operate at the same frequency.
I intend to begin work on a version that also includes "frequency
diversity" so that the Mercury boards may be operated on different
bands if desired. In this case the "extra" RX2 controls that you see
at the bottom of the screen in the video clip will also show up on our
HPSDR display. Those controls are not necessary if the Mercury boards
are operating on the same frequency so are not shown in this latest
HPSDR version.
