I think I'll end up using two power (already lying around)transformers/rectifiers/filter caps/regulators for two DC sources for the 5V and 12V supplies, i.e. make a dual linear PS.

Demeter sounds good but taming the switch mode noise will be the trick. This darn netbook PS wipes out nearby reception so much I made a linear PS for it!
