[hpsdr] Penny PTT unkeying spike - T/R sequencing?

Phil and all:

I did try moving the db per band settings above 38 a few times before and
found no difference in the spike. However, since running it above 42db I
haven't had a Penny spurious lock-up yet. Hopefully that is a trend... :-)

One thing I didn't mention that may be a clue? When I do a DB calibrate on
the PA final, (regular, not advanced) the automation gets about 3/4 way
through with the db gain ending at 38db - and then a message pops up saying
"invalid calculations....." and aborts. I have a good 50 ohm Bird dummy
load on it. This happens on 80M or any band for that matter. Is this
meaningful?

Phil, I did try the test with the 50 ohms right off Penny's BNC connector
and same results.

I will look at pin 3 of DB25 pin as you suggested.

OK on KISS. Yes, I would welcome that as a diagnostic tool.

Joe/RQG - OK on not needing ( -12V). I thought Ozy needed it, but will look
again. It is a rather noisy supply anyway - being switched, so I'd be glad
to get rid of it with that jumper disable.

Still testing and trying different things here...

Hi John,

This is a problem in PowerSDR which we found whilst testing PennyLane.

For now do not reduce the Gain per Band to below 40.9bB. Below this
PowerSDR can send I&Q levels that exceed the 16 bit range of values we can
accept. This mostly happens with the CMPDR on.

Bill, KD5TFD, has fixed this and it will be included in his next release as
will Doug, W5WC, next version.
