[hpsdr] Where are things headed?

Hi Gordon,

Thanks for the question, here's the current plan from my perspective.

Cyclops

We currently have both prototype hardware (based on off-the-shelf
evaluation boards) and test software that can be used as a
proof-of-concept. The concept of deliberately allowing images to be
produced and then removing them in software looks very promising.

We have recently increased the upper frequency limit from 4 to 6 GHz.

Further work to be done on both the hardware and software and I expect to
start work on a prototype PCB early in the new year.

Initially Cyclops will be an Atlas based board, using Metis and Mercury,
but depending on the success we will consider making a stand alone version
for use with Hermes.

VNA

The VNA code for Hermes appears to be stable and there is a steady trickle
of suggestions for improvements/features.

My intent was that this would be a proof-of-concept rather that a fully
featured VNA and I'm hoping that someone will run with the PC software
from here on to extend features etc.

I'd still like to implement a VNA using Mercury, Penny(Lane) and Metis but
at the moment there simply aren't enough hours in the day to tackle this.
