[hpsdr] Dayton: Thoughts on cyclops and Flex:Hermes

Great show and banquet as usual.  All of the Hamvention presentions were great as was the Banquet:  Ever hear a Brit give a boring presentation?

With the introduction of the Rigol 815 Spectrum analyzer with TG for $1500, Cyclops might have a run for its money.  Will leave that to the group.

The new Flex box has a faster AD by a bit, took some overhead from the computer and filled the box with a pile of filters.  I personally am satisfied with what Hermes will offer.  There is always an advantage of a boxed unit and long time support.  The big loss of might be that some of the low level programmers such as Bob M.  will be plugging into proprietary software rather than open source.  And we simple users are the the mercy of the hard core group of programmers we've had.
