Your antennas sound rather modest to cause an overload problem. I run a 150 
mtr long wire or a 320mtr loop and can get by most of the time with no 
filters and the preamp on without any overload problems. The ocasional 
overload problem that does occur is at grey line time but this is easily 
sorted by dropping in one of 5 high pass filters.

I would try a 1.5Mhz HPF just to if the problem is one of you local radio AM 
stations.
