[hpsdr] Is anyone doing a Hermes Mini-Circuits group buy

Morning All,

Here is an update after I talked to Mini-Circuits UK on the phone. Their
web site is not the most friendly when it comes to trying to work out
costs and you only get the final cost when you have accepted their terms
and conditions. By that stage you have already had to put in your credit
card details, so I didn't want to go any further in case I was committed
to a £600 buy.

The down side of all this is that the price I was originally shown when
it asked for my credit card didn't include VAT or shipping (No free
shipping on £600!!!). This would take the cost to £38.50 (~$62).

It's maybe a better option to ship individually from the states as that
would bring the cost down to ~$40 and you would also get a better break
on the price taking the order as a whole. Also VAT would not be payable
if the value of the item was marked as below £15 (~$24).

There is another option where I was the European distributor and I
received one parcel and broke it up into smaller packages. I have done
that in the past for the Scotty spectrum analyser but the issue then is
the VAT on entry to the UK. As the package would have to be insured, its
true value would have to be indicated on the declaration.

Food for though.

Cheers
