Hi Jim,
you are right. Higher Vdd tends to result in higher gain and better IMD.
However, the safer way is to follow the well defined operating parameters of
the suppliers. A device can be much easier killed by a voltage peak than by
oversized current. These peaks e.g. generated in short periods of mismatch
of fundamental or harmonics have to be added to Vdd. Even for modern designs
of 500V RF MOSFET like IXYS the recommended operation voltage is max. 150V.
