[hpsdr] More Munin...

Hi Larry,

I did all the soldering with a standard fine tipped soldering iron -
HAKKO FX-888 with one of the T18 series tips. I use small pieces of
solder snipped off to the approx size of the pads; for the passive
components such as resistors and capacitors, I place the component on
the pad, position a piece of solder next to one end; hold the component
down with a toothpick; apply the iron to pad/component/solder; with that
end secured, I do the other end - iron in one hand, solder in the other.
I do something similar for the other SMT components - basically
getting one leg or wire or whatever soldered down so the component won't
move, then do the remainder. I use a pair of magnifying glasses. It
takes a bit of practice getting used to holding the component down with
the toothpick - you've got to get the angle and pressure right but it
generally works and gets the job done. I could not do this without the
magnifying glasses or fine tipped iron + fine solder. One or two of the
components were cylindrical instead of the usual flat shape so the
toothpick was not so well shaped for them - next time I do something
like that I'll make a suitably shaped holding-down device maybe from a
wooden Popsicle stick with a v-shaped groove.

The wire for the final transformer L4 was as supplied by Tim O'Rourke,
W4YN, who was kind enough to supply me with most of the components for
the Munin AMP. According to the BOM, it is AVG22 25 ohm coax. I have
some pictures of the windings if needed.

Let me know if I can be of further help.
