All,

A new release of Hermes code is available - V2.5.

This can be downloaded from the openHPSDR web site http://openhpsdr.org/download.php

of from

http://svn.tapr.org/repos_sdr_hpsdr/trunk/Hermes/Release/Hermes_V2.5.rbf

(Note: Depending on the browser you are using you may need to right click on the link and then select “Save Target As”)

The latest release includes the following new features:
a.. The maximum frequency error has been halved. Thanks to John, AC0ZG, for this improvement
b.. When used with the VNA code the scan time has been substantially reduced
c.. The transmit bandwidth has been increased to +/- 20kHz and flat to within 0.01dB. This was a requirement for pre-distortion that also improves the performance on FM.
d.. The features needed by the ‘PureSignal’ pre-distortion code have been implemented.
The new Hermes code can be installed using the HPSDRProgrammer_V2_nopcap available from

http://openhpsdr.org/download.php

It is recommended that when programming Hermes all other applications on your PC are temporarily stopped.

An announcement will be made shortly regarding a similar upgrade for Angelia boards.

I’m also very pleased to announce that Alex, VE3NEA, has written a VNA program specifically for the Hermes board. Once again Alex has produced an exceptional piece of code that is a pleasure to use.

You can download the code from here:

Source code is also available from here:

There is currently no user manual, and Alex will not be providing one. If anyone is prepared to write a suitable manual please contact me off list.

An announcement regarding a new version of PowerSDR™ OpenHPSDRmRx PC software that uses Warren, NR0V, new wdsp code and supports PureSignal will be made shortly.

As usual bouquets and brickbats via the reflector.
