[hpsdr] Hermes Speach delay Latency problem

Hello to the entire Group, My name is Dave and live in West Cumbria and just
to fill you in

With a few details as I have been very silent since being one of the
original Beta testers of

The original Hermes boards that came off the assembly line from TAPR. I
originally used my

Hermes a lot and have worked pretty much all over the world with just 15
watts and used

the G6ALU amplifier and also have the 150 watts version but have had no need
to use it as 

yet. I have a Delta Loop with about 230 feet of wire in the loop and it
works extremely well.

 

I have kept Phil Harman VK6APH up to date from time to time with my
developments but

as you will probably know he is suffering from an eye problem and waiting
for an operation

to try and cure his problem so for obvious reasons cannot spend much time at
his computer. He is a true inspiration to Ham Radio in every sense of the
word as he must have spent thousands of hours on the Hermes project as well
as many others, a long list, and a labour of love.

 

I cannot believe what has actually developed with the Hermes Project over
time because Kevin Wheatly M0KHZ is a very good friend of mine and many
moons ago he suggested to me over a conversation in my house to join the
HPSDR group which I did and then he said why don't you build up the HPSDR
boards and personally did not like the idea of a back plane motherboard and
pluggable boards so I said to him, Why cant we have all the HPSDR built all

Onto one board and that REALLY got Kevin thinking and of course from there
on the PROJECT was born with a huge amount of help from all over the planet.
I only put the idea into his head so to speak.

 

I decided to upgrade the Software to the latest version and also upgrade the
Firmware to the latest version as well.

 

Everything is working fine except that I am getting reports that there is a
delay in my speech transmission, a sort of Latency I expect and cannot find
any references to this problem anywhere and wondered if anyone could steer
me in the right direction to cure this.

 

Just another little query,, in the older versions of Software I used to go
into External Control and check a whole number of check boxes to enable the
correct relays to switch in my Low Pass Filters for each band and now it
seems to operate perfectly without doing anything in the Ext Control area, a
little baffled as to why I don't need to check the relevant boxes anymore. 

 

The reason I don't join in is I spend a lot of time away in my caravan
around the UK enjoying life in retirement.
