Session text follows
20:40:21> *** You are now talking in channel: "OpenHPSDR"
21:03:43> "Bill - KD5TFD": woo hoo on the keyer phil
21:03:56> "Ken N9VV": Good on ya' Mate'
21:04:40> "Bill - KD5TFD": surely there must be some latency ...
maybe a micro sec or two for gate propagation?!?!
21:04:59> "Ken N9VV": T/R latency to be worked on
21:05:28> "Bill - KD5TFD": just a physics thing ... got to take
some time for the key close to propagate to the fpga ..
21:06:24> "Phil-VK6PH": latency is 33uS
21:06:39> "Bill - KD5TFD": tjat
21:07:10> "Bill - KD5TFD": that's pretty quick
21:07:23> "Greg ZL3IX": Any plans to put the new CW into Penny,
Phil?
21:07:39> "John - AJ6BC": Hi! Hi!
21:07:55> "Phil-VK6PH": Yes, a little more difficult but I do
intend to do that
21:08:04> "Greg ZL3IX": Great!
21:08:35> "John - AJ6BC": Scotty - just sent you the block
diagram for Themis. - So, you should have Khronos and Themis in
your inbox now.
21:12:58> "Scotty - WA2DFI": Thanks, John, got them! Is there
any way you can export a JPG?
21:13:19> "John - AJ6BC": Should be able to - let me try that -
back in a few.
21:14:53> "Bill - KD5TFD": wow
21:18:46> "Dave WW2R":

21:22:25> "John - AJ6BC": Scotty - just sent the JPG's.
21:23:47> "Bill - KD5TFD": Toasty
21:29:39> "John - AJ6BC": Guys, not to thrown a curve ball in
this - but in the past week I have had some people ask about
PXIe and 'Blade' computer backplanes - if we could go from
'Atlas' to one of these- we can also get more traction in the
industry I think.
21:29:58> "John - AJ6BC": We can design our own to keep costs
down - I would suggest PXIe at this point.
21:30:05> "John - AJ6BC": *throw
21:32:53> "John - AJ6BC":

21:33:02> "John - AJ6BC": NI says it is down now.
21:33:34> "Bill - KD5TFD": only $8799 for the chassis?!?
21:33:37> "John - AJ6BC": PXIE Hybrid is what we can think about.
21:33:47> "John - AJ6BC": Yeah - why we would need to roll our own.
21:33:52> "Bill - KD5TFD": ya
21:34:05> "John - AJ6BC": Same spec as PCIe. Getting popular.
21:34:10> "Bill - KD5TFD": or find the cheap Asian knock offs
21:34:49> "John - AJ6BC": Ah, sure they are out there. Don't
know of any off the top of my head.
21:35:06> "Bill - KD5TFD": all new to me
21:35:09> "John - AJ6BC": Brand 'X' they talk about on that site.
21:36:50> "Ken N9VV": Note: July 2007 N8VB had SERDES (Optical)
link to PCI bus
http://pcovington.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
21:37:07> "Ken N9VV": "2.5 Gbps Serial Link:
The other end of the 2.5 Gbps interface will be a PCI and PCI
Express board for the PC. This interface board will have a
matching TI TLK2701 SERDES, a CYCLONE II EP3C25, a TI CODEC, and
a PLX PCI or PCIe-to-local bus interface chip. The two boards
can be connected by Cat6 copper or optical fiber through the SFP
module interface."
21:37:36> "Ken N9VV": N8VB finished those interfaces and they
worked quite well
21:43:02> "Scotty - WA2DFI":

21:43:24> "John - AJ6BC": Thanks - Phil - any opinions on the

21:58:50> "Warren - NR0V": 73 all -- going to check on the
