This is a reminder of the ANAN-NET for Sundays afternoons. (As ever, at
12:30 PM, MINNESOTA TIME.)

A special welcome to Bob, N5BRG! See his email to me below:

I would like to let folks know that Mike is doing a fine job here with
this net. I managed to check into the net today using my HPSDR with
Pennylane, Mercury, Metis, and Pennywhistle. This was actually my first
contact with this RIG and I just happened to find his net to try the
radio out. The thing that made the NET so interesting is Mikes live
streaming which he mentions below. With this stream you can see a
slightly delayed view of his Power SDR screen and hear your/others
actual audio from his QTH. Band conditions where not that good today and
I was only getting out about 18 watts so I was a difficult copy. I could
see my signal on his radio was just registering above the noise. I did
manage to complete the checkin though.

After checking in I slipped off Mikes frequency to a quite spot near by.
Then I could tune my radio and adjust the beam heading while looking at
my tune signal occasionally pop up on Mike's display. I should have done
this before trying to check in! It is really cool to see the livestream
of his radio while adjusting your station. You can also see all his
Power SDR settings and watch him make changes and adjustments which is a
good way to learn what others are doing and what works best.

See Mike?s original posting for more details and check this out.

I am away from home at this time, and I will NOT be in a great position
to run the ANAN-NET this next Sunday. (June 28, 2015) I am at camp in
central Minnesota; I do have a radio (not an SDR, sorry...) and a 75m
dipole. It "works OK" on 20 meters, but I will be a much weaker voice
on 20, as a result of my very poor antenna. (The dipole is 18 feet at
the feed-point, and is fed with 300 Ohm window-line to a 1:1 balun, then
coax to the radio pile in the camper.)

See the two FYI items, as they just might apply for this Sunday's
ANAN-NET. -Also, there is the FIELD DAY celebration which I assume will
be active. AS a result, the band will be crowded, I'd fully expect. If
I have to move the net frequency (or if anyone else sees the need to
move!), we will all have to do some searching, just to see if the net
has survived!

FYI: There are three SUNDAYS that I will be away from home in the coming
months; -I will have HF radio abilities for at least ONE of the Sundays,
and the other two are simply unknown! (So, if I am gone, please do as
Dave (KU4B) has done, and see if you can stir up some ANAN activity!)

FYI number 2, presented as an "if it fits" situation: -I used to be the
NCS for the FLEX-RADIO net, and at times we would toss the net control
duties back and fourth between two of us; -This actually worked out
nicely, as it allowed a better COVERAGE of the possible net
participants!! (Do keep this is in mind!)

The ANAN-NET normally meets on 14.340 Mhz on Sundays at 1730Z. This net
always meets at 12:30 PM local Minnesota time. (The GMT time shift from
1830 to 1730Z is dependent on daylight savings time's being active or not.)

The PURPOSE OF THE NET is to transfer new ideas, ask questions, and so
on. And most importantly, it is a social meeting place for those of us
who embrace software defined radios, especially the Apache ANAN units.
Join in, please! (Thank you.) To view and to hear the ANAN-NET, go to my
LIVESTREAM streaming web link. Once on this Livestream web site, one
can see and hear what I see and hear from my ham station, which is
South-East Minnesota. The Livestream link is as follows:

I have made up not one, but two "Facebook presences." These are really
crude, of course. The second one was generated as a result of my lacking
skills in "things Facebook" as I plodded along. As an example of my
lacking skills, I do not even know how to let people know of the
Facebook web address!!! (Assistance is NEEDED!) (Should I allow this to
DIE??)
