The test voice could be driven by your virtual cable test Software.

Are you running any virtual cables?

Hello,

I was playing with the Hermes on various bands.  In LSB or usb, cw reception
is fine.  When I switch to
either CWL or CWU, I hear what sounds like 'A' repeating with a 'test'
signal, and all other signals disappear.

I know this is happening on most of the upper bands.  What is happening?
