Thank you George.

I merely went into the Windows registry and added the

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate

DisableOSUpgrade 1

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\GWX

DisableGWX 1

and it stopped trying to update my Windows 7 desktop to Windows
10. It still allows me to install the Windows 7 patches.

It had kept trying to install Windows 10, even though the
Microsoft web site found that the PC was not able to run Windows
10. I would boot, it would fail on Windows 10 and then I had to
restore back to previous Windows 7 until the next boot. One
wonders at the wisdom of their efforts.

I keep that Windows 7 PC running for the dedicated task of BOINC
QCN earthquake network. The accelerometers I have do not have a
driver for Windows 10.
