Hi all,

Been reading this thread with interest and it shows how diverse peoples
requirements are and there is certainly a diverse set of hardware and
software out there to suit most people. My own personal opinion is I
like the architecture of the atlas based system, maybe because I'm from
a software background modularisation always seemed a better approach
than a single multi-function module which will continually get
redesigned to make improvements to one or more of those functions. Yes I
know its a soft core but not everything can be done in firmware/software
(yet!) and I know a single board is a more cost-effective approach. I
fully understand the limitations of the atlas bus but I'm sure inventive
minds could overcome those limitations with a re-designed modular
architecture. I'm equally sure that will never happen.

It's very likely I will stick with what I have and it's good that there
is a definitive 'no' to the new firmware so at least we know where we
stand. I'm probably in the minority here but I don't really mind if the
software dries up as the fun part for me is rolling my own. I fully
admit that most likely none of my attempts will ever get complete enough
for anybody else to use because I go off on too many tangents and have
too many other projects that soak up time.

The volunteer effects of everybody involved in both the hardware and
software are absolutely amazing and I really don't know how you manage
to fit it in with other commitments. My hat goes off to all of you for
giving me such an opportunity to experiment.

73 Bob
