We don't necessarily need to sample in the first Nyquist zone for Hermes.
Taking out the LPF and replacing it with a 2M BPF lets the current ADC work.
Depending upon how wide we make the BPF we could average ADC measurements to
increase the dynamic range.  I believe that this is done in some amateur
SDR's now.  Limiting the BW does leave the dymanic range for "in band"
signals.
