[hpsdr] New Hermes board

Hi Bert,

clear answer for a clear question: NO! Not in the expected way...

The Kuhne TR-144 offers a noise figure of 1.3 dB, quite usual for serious
SSB operation. To achieve this performance an net pre-amplification of 38 dB
is necessary to match the 30 dB noise figure of the ADC. This restricts the
DR of the DDC system in an unacceptable manner.
This does not kill the undersampling mode. If people can install the
necessary low noise preamp directly at the antenna they can live with a
rather 'deaf' 2m frontend. All depends on the individual app, hi. Since
years I use a Mercury/Penelope combination in undersampling mode. PowerSDR
or Thetis needs no modification as undersamplung has only to be defined as
'virtual transverter' in the settings.

HI,

144MHz on the "Hermes" with a additional under-sampling front-end,

Will it have a onboard 2M preamp, like there is for 6M on the Alex?.

What kind off spec's can one expect concerning dynamic range, phase
noise, etc..

Can it compete with a Hermes on 28MHz and a DB6NT transverter?
