openHPSDR does not use VITA 49. Raw IQ data samples are available formatted
as a standard Windows stereo audio stream, and certain metadata is
available via the CAT interface, but there is no VITA 49 formatted data
used internally or externally.

It should be noted that VITA 49 is really just a layer in a protocol stack.
There is a great deal of flexibility with respect to the contents of VITA
49 data streams.

The spec. is available for purchase from the VITA website:
https://www.vita.com/Standards

There is some open source VITA 49 stuff on Git, for example:
https://github.com/eblossom/vita-49

However, it is hard to know how good, bad, or to what extent the full VITA
49 spec. is supported by such open source software without having a copy of
the VITA 49 spec. available for reference.

It should be noted that VITA 49 encapsulation of data does tend to up the
bandwidth required to transmit it significantly.
