<p>I see benefits as waveform portability with other SDR radios.  For instance, Ossie has several waveforms already including:<br>AM Receiver </p>
<p>Narrowband FM transmitter and receiver </p>
<p>BPSK/CVSD Voice transmitter and receiver </p>
<p>BPSK modulated packetized data transmitter and receiver</p>
<p>that are apparently used one the USRP SDR ( <a onclick="return top.js.OpenExtLink(window,event,this)" href="http://www.ettus.com/" target="_blank">http://www.ettus.com/</a> ).</p>
<p>While I have 'no dog in the hunt' so to speak, the guys at <a onclick="return top.js.OpenExtLink(window,event,this)" href="http://sdrforum.org/" target="_blank">sdrforum.org</a> describe in their objectives abstraction, common interfaces, etc in the following powerpoint:

</a><br><br>You could port a SCA framework, but as far as I know it appears to be<br>the wrong way to do SDR, and the idea persists only because it is <br>being using for JTRS being developed for the US military. I suppose
