many thanks for your detailed and informative reply. My plans
contemplate the use of a recently<br>
acquired Rubidium unit to generate the 10 MHz reference signal.<br>

Judging from your explanation, then there must be something broken with
my Penelope card....<br>
If I select Penelope as source of the 10 MHz signal, apparently there
is no lock of the PLL, <br>
and the received signal has a warbled tone, as I demonstrated in an MP3
file a few days ago.<br>
This happens no matter what the source of the 122.88 MHz is, Mercury or
Penelope....<br>
