Hi Greg and all the List,
<br>
<br>
I seem to have GOOD NEWS!!!
<br>
<br>
I have carefully redone the soldering of the preamp... and it is
working fine for some minutes! (before, it failed within seconds)
<br>
<br>
I can't claim victory yet, but this shows that the failure is on
that area. Nice :-)!
<br>
<br>
Best regards,
<br>

JOSE

Hi Jose,
<br>
<br>
Just make sure you check the soldering before changing the chip.
The
<br>
soldering is much more likely to be the problem.

Hi all,
<br>
<br>
I have uploaded a video of the problem. Sorry, comments are in
<br>
Spanish, but it is easy to understand what happens if you read
below.
<br>
It is at:
<br>
<br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://jvgavila.com/hpsdr/samples/mercury_preamp_failure.mpg">http://jvgavila.com/hpsdr/samples/mercury_preamp_failure.mpg</a>
<br>
<br>
I start the unit and sensitivity is way down the right one.
Then, I
<br>
apply cooling spray (you will hear the noise) to the Mercury
preamp
<br>
and, suddenly, it comes to life. In short time, once it gets
hot, it
<br>
fails again.
<br>
<br>
I think I have a culprit :-)!
<br>
<br>
Regards,
<br>
<br>
JOSE
