calibrated it can measure its own Noise Figure.</DIV>

<DIV>Noise Figure (db) = 174 - 10log(bandwidth Hz) + noise
floor where noise floor is in dBm and in the same
bandwidth.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Lets take some actual figures using Mercury that has been calibrated at
14MHz. Using PowerSDR with the RX1 meter set to Sig Avg, a 2.9kHz
bandwidth and sampling at 48kHz the noise floor is -130dBm with a 50
ohm termination directly on the antenna socket.</DIV>

<DIV>Putting these figures into the above formula yields:</DIV>

<DIV>NF = 174 -10log(2900) -130 = 9.4dB</DIV>
