<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html charset=utf-8"></head><body style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space;" class="">My understanding of the controls you mention (and I operate my ANAN on this basis) is that the PA level settings are the amplification gain factors of the PA for each band and the RF power setting is how much drive is sent to the PA when you “key” for Tx. I set my PA gains so that my Tx is 100W when the drive level is 100 and the Tx modulation input is just slightly (say 0.1db) under 0db. If the “use Drive Power” checkbox is checked and you use the “tune” button to key the Tx, then the value of drive set near the checkbox will be used rather than the what is set in the drive level setting. I check the box and have this level set for 5 (with my PA gains ~5W) which is the minimum I need to activate my antenna tuners. If you key Tx externally (via PTT, a digital program or space bar), the output level will be what is set by the drive level slider (and PA gains of course) vs the level set near the checkbox. Moving the drive level slider after keying with tune will adjust the Tx output, and the checkbox level setting, to the slider value - and the checkbox level will remain there, i.e. not go back to the value before keying.<div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">BTW, for my ANAN, the PA gain settings are approximately linear for each band setting so that (the way I set) drive level corresponds roughly to Watts.
