Phoenix is interesting but I needed another HPSDR based radio. I still run an Atlas based Mercury, Penelope and Metis SDR.<br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">I ordered an Apache Labs Hermes card in Nov 2022 knowing it was group order and subject to a queue. The board arrived beginning of May 2023 via Fed Ex.</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">I didn't want any of the other offerings currently available although I do have an Hack RF One.</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">Naturally the board works fine and will be incorporated into a 400 watt Solid State Amp. The 500mW out suits my application exactly.<br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">My understanding is that no more orders for Hermes will be taken at the moment. Maybe this will change in due course but Abhi produces these at cost for the Amateur community so we will have to wait and see.<br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div style="font-size:16px;">Cheers Dean. But e.g. compared with HERMES I can't detect<br></div><div dir="ltr">any benefit of the important RF performance as the ADC/DAC is the<br></div><div dir="ltr">limiting factor (IM,blocking, phase noise etc.)<br></div><div dir="ltr"><br></div><div dir="ltr">Our experience 7 years later: the promising development of the new<br></div><div dir="ltr">HERMES 2 providing two independent RX ports died on the way to the<br></div><div dir="ltr">layout of the board. Cheap derivates like Red Pitaya and Chinese clones<br></div><div dir="ltr">became the favorite SDR for homebrewing hams. The industry's trend to<br></div><div dir="ltr">higher bandwidths and microwave frequencies created new RF transceiver<br></div><div dir="ltr">chips with preamps, IQ-mixer, RX/TX-synthesizer etc. on board. The<br></div><div dir="ltr">AD9361 is covering 47 MHz to 6 GHz while der LMS7002 starts at 100 kHz<br></div><div dir="ltr">up to 3.8 GHz at cost far below USD 50. Microwave SDRs for ham<br></div><div dir="ltr">application could be built for less than USD 200.
