Au contraire. If you look at the website http://uwsdr.berlios.de which
is specifically the project I am talking about, you will see the
software I am working on. It is do with SDRs and completely cross
platform. It's written in C++ and is already running on Windows, Linux
and Mac OS X.

It's also very portable to drive other hardware. Implement IData
Reader, IDataWriter and IConnection for talking to other hardware, and
off you go. Currently it talks Ethernet, but USB would be easy to plug
in, or sound cards, or ....

I would humbly suggest that you do not. For example, the UDP
performance of Windows XP on a very fast machine is awful. I'm having
to jump through hoops because of the inadequacies of Windows.
