The movers and shakers of this group don't need these but it is fun to
read (with a little math!) what they are doing with the filters and rest
of the guts.  Dover Publications has 'Digital Filters' by Hamming for
$15.95 and a general book 'Almost All About Waves' by Pierce for $13.95. 
You can skip the math and just pick the pearls.  These have been mentioned
elsewhere, but worth the revisit.
