[hpsdr] Soldering Question, RoHS

I am assembling a kit, non-RoHS compliant, and I would like to add IC
sockets to the circuit board. The kit did not come with IC sockets.
Can regular rosin core solder with lead be used to assemble a circuit board
with IC sockets that meet RoHS standards? Will the solder stick to the
socket pins? Are there any negatives in doing this or should non-RoHS
sockets be used. The non-RoHS sockets seem to be getting harder to obtain.
Thanks for the help.
