[hpsdr] Proposal for Loop Antenna

Well, I feel like I have a little egg on my face after waxing so
enthusiastically over this tunable loop antenna project. Tommy, KV5T, who
is one of my colleagues at work, found some scans of an article published in
Radio and Communications in August 2001 that describes the design and
construction of exactly this project! What's more, the author of the
project is none other than Phil Harman!!! Small world. (I imagine Phil got
a chuckle from my proposal.) I only have scans of the article; perhaps Phil
can provide a link to the information. His project was, of course,
beautifully executed and totally professional and worthy of serious
investigation by anyone interested in doing this type of antenna. (Or ANY
remotely-tunable antenna, for that matter.)

In any case, the reflector response has been interesting and encouraging,
but probably not sufficient to warrant the bandwidth of a formal project on
the site. However, I'm certainly going to continue to design and build my
own version and would be happy to share any and all of my work with the
group. I've just received the prototype PWBs for the controller, as well as
the mechanical parts to start building the drive hardware, and I'm busy
getting up to speed with the code. Several others have expressed an
interest off-line as well, and I'm looking forward to working with them. I
hope we can bring it to fruition soon.

Many thanks to everyone for the comments and encouragement.
