No, not expensive at all  One supplier is Melcor

Price varies but you can get them for $10 each more
or less.  It does get expensive if you need to move
a lot of heat because then you need a large power
supply (and TECs like clean power), possibly water and
a pump and a couple heat
exchangers, fans and a controller.  But the basic
device is cheap, well under $10 for this application
as very little heat is moved.

But power resistors are even cheaper than Peltiers
but the can't cool the part so they are used to
stabilize the temperature of devices that use some
power.
