For those of you considering or who have already ordered bare boards you
should be considering how you are going to solder them. I'd like to put in a
plug for my method of Hot Air Reflow soldering and solder paste. You'll find
that this is a simple and inexpensive method of assembling SMT boards of
this type and density. www.zianet.com/erg/SMT_Soldering.html and
www.zianet.com/erg/ShopSolderPaste.html

Also, Cecil Bayona KD5NWA has an excellent page that shows some related
methods http://www.hpsdr.com/Public/Projects/SMT/SMT.html of SMT assembly.

In my tutorial on this soldering method I suggest a beverage warmer, which
is to small for these boards so I'll have to do some retail research to come
up with a suitable substitute, I'm thinking that a coffee maker warming
plate might do the trick but that needs to be tried.

I may also be able to assist in kitting of some of the descrete passive
parts and some of the semiconductor components. I'll keep you informed when
I know something definite.

Since I already heard from a few people who are interested I'm
cautiously optimistic that there may be enough interest in this.

So in case anyone wants to play with what I put together I whipped up
a quick tgz of the CSV files and the PHP scripts:

http://yumaduners.com/jth_upload/hpsdr/janus.tgz

The scripts are ugly, mostly uncommented, and fairly untested...I just
tossed them together to see how viable this would be and wasn't really
worried about writing good code ;)

The CSV files are probably a little confusing but if you look in the
janus_bom_large.html file there's some comments near the top that
should help decipher what col is what in them.

So if anyone wanted to give a try at slipping in some alternate
parts/quantities, attempting the Ozy bom, or starting to put together
a version for mouser hopefully this will help.
