Hi,

I haven't been keeping close track of where Alex is heading, but
though I would give my $000,000.02. 

How about using a series of low pass filters and another series
of high pass filters.  You could then independently chose the BW
by selecting the appropriate low and high pass sections.  

It would also be useful if multiple Alex's would work in cascade. 
Steeper skirts and better ultimate rejection.
