RadCom April arrived with yet another SDR article by Phil, VK6APH. Again
worth your subscription price.

I just got back from London and Oxford, after mortgaging the house and
kids to buy a few pounds.
There picked up the May Electronics World at a newstand for the article,
"Rock'n'Roll in the FPGA-Efficient Implementation of Audio Algorithms".
Somehow I've missed the concept that substituting the FPGA for a fixed DSP
chip doesn't gain from some circuit magic in the FPGA, but in that you can
run a string of sampled data in a block set thru the configured FPGA at a
very high clock speed to gain (in their example) a reduction in time of 40
along with complexity. Now a bit more makes sense.

The author, Field Applications Engineer for Synplicity Deutschland, does a
good job with this application of his company's add-on for Matlab
/Simulink.

P.S. The first reading with a bottle of Stumpy (?) cider makes it a bit
easier reading.
