I think better to not pick the DDS part. Pick an interface.
For example you could simply say that the LO will use the same
8-pin socket at the DDS-60. Then if some one wants to use a
DDS-60 fine but they could if they like use an AD9951 based board
Of an analog LO if they liked
You can extend this to other basic blocks such as a mixer.
Just define the interface to be the same as some available part

Same concept here too. Someone already defined "Posix". Linux
and other OSes try to follow the Posix standard. Write code
for that style of OS and it's mostly portable.
